The White-throated Sparrow is a large sparrow with a rounded head, long legs and prominent bill.  They are brown above and gray below with a striking black and white striped head which is augmented by a bright white throat and yellow between the eyes and the bill.  They stay near the ground, but can also be seen in bushes in the Winter.  They like woods, forest edges, pond edges and thickets.  They love backyard birdfeeders.
