OYSTER TOADFISH AUDIO I

OYSTER TOADFISH AUDIO II

Recorded April, 2009 - Edisto Island, South Carolina

The Oyster Toadfish is a bottom dweller, inhabiting shallow waters such as the lagoon at Edisto.  The fog-horn call is produced by the male when courting females at the nest site.  Both sexes make grunting and growling sounds when annoyed or frightened.

Identified through the University of Rhode Island's Discovery of Sound in the Sea.
